I wrote a blog couple of years ago about the Dish Network HD DVR Vip 722. Now Dish network lease DuoDVRTM ViP 722k, which is almost same as Vip 722. The only difference is you need to get optional Dual tuner OTA module for OTA programming, but then you can record up to 5 channels.

As always if you are a current Dish Network customer, call the customer service and ask for the upgrade. If they ask for the upgrade fee ask them to cancel service( only if you are out of contract), they will transfer you to cancellation/account retention department. Account retention department people have authority to do pretty much anything. Depends on your whining/bitching you may receive some additional free programming or credit also.
If you are a new customer;it’s better to switch to Dish Network. Dish Network has best deal in DVR and their plans are cheapest and have best International Prgramming. Cable also offer free DVR but it’s outdated. Tivo and Moxi are good but they are super expensive. You will receive:
