Since the Toshiba HD DVD format lost the race to Sony Blu-ray,I can finally buy a Blu-ray player. I started to research on the Blu-ray player.Like Operating systems,iPhone, or any other electronic gadgets, Blu-ray is upgradeable too. Initial roll out of the Blu-ray were profile 1.0 then profile 1.1. The current Blu-ray profile is 2.0, which requires having Internet connection to show additional contents/features. Long story short, unlike old Blu-ray players only Sony PS3 is future proof and support Blu-ray profile 2.0 . Also the cost $399 of Sony PS3 is very reasonable compare to available $300 standalone Blu-ray players. With Sony PS3 besides the Blu-ray player and gaming system I also get full feature multimedia machine and even I can load Linux operating system on it.
So folks who wants to buy the Blu-ray player now need should buy Sony PS3, you will not regret the decision.
Am I buying the PS3 soon?
No I am waiting for the PS3 slim which will have lower wattage because of the 45nm chip (hopefully) and smaller then the size of current Sony PS3 system.
May be I might buy now if I get really tempting deal on thanksgiving holidays.
Please share your comments on this and educate me if I miss anything.
FYI I am not a gamer, but maybe I will play some game when I have Sony PS3.
